Trinity Talks: Meet Sales Consultant Jeff Whiting

andrew.bash • July 18, 2017

Our employees are not only the face of our company but also a direct reflection of what we stand for. Maryland native, Jeff Whiting has been one of our sales consultants for over five years. In his time with Trinity Homes, he has gone above and beyond to build long-term relationships with clients and help them in any way he can. Here are a few things you should know about Jeff.

Q: Where are you from originally?
J: Laurel, Maryland.

Q: What made you move to the Columbus area?
J: My dad’s job. He worked at The University of Maryland and eventually took a job at The Ohio State University. We moved when I was a senior in High School so I attended Dublin High School—now Dublin Coffman High School. Go Rocks! It’s been 30 years since we moved.

Q: What do you do on a regular work day?
J: During a regular work day I’m usually meeting new clients, showing homes, maintaining relationships with my current clients, marketing, and talking to clients about anything from school district value to home features that might work best for them.

Q: What was your most unusual job before working at Trinity Homes?
J: I owned a computer consulting company with a couple of colleagues.

Q: What made you want to switch careers?
J: I wasn’t very interested in computing so I talked to my colleagues and they bought my share of the company. After that, I started looking for a career that would make me happy; I found that with Trinity Homes. I love selling houses and working with people—it’s a lot of fun!

Q: Which communities are you currently selling?
J: Wyandotte Woods is my home location, but we can sell in any of our 35+ communities in Central Ohio.

Q: What is your Alma Mater?
J: The Ohio State University . I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management.

Q: In your opinion, what area of Central Ohio do you see as the hottest selling point?
J: The cities outside the metropolitan area. Everything around Columbus is expanding and the Downtown concentration is decreasing. Galena, home of the 2017 BIA Parade of Homes , is one of the most popular residential areas in Central Ohio right now.

Q: Have you noticed any market trends among Millennials?
J: Absolutely. Most Millennials want the same thing; walkability. They want to live in a community where anything they need—supermarket, hair salon, restaurants—is only a short walk away.

Q: What is, in your opinion, the X-Factor of building with Trinity Homes?
J: Customization. We will customize any floor plan we have, from something as simple as adding a window to moving walls and adding rooms.

Q: What is the #1 feature Trinity Homes offers?
J: The quality of our homes, the standard features and products we use, and our transferrable warranty of 35 years.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
J: I have a couple boats on Lake Erie and when I’m not at work, I’m essentially living in one of them. I’m also a Cedar Point platinum pass holder—I’m there all the time.

Q: Do you have a favorite book?
J: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt.

Q: If you had the chance to talk to anyone, who would it be?
J: Madonna. She’s one of my favorite artists so I would love to meet her and learn about her life from her perspective.

Q: Which TV-show character do you identify yourself the most with?
J: Michael Bluth from Arrested Development. Besides having similar personalities, he lives in a model home and I spend most of my time inside a model home—I find that pretty funny. However, I do have to say that our homes are of a much higher quality than the Bluth family homes—theirs break all the time.

Q: What is something clients should know about Trinity Homes?
J: That we all support one another no matter what. George Ailshire and I work together on everything and that is of a huge benefit to our clients; when one of us is not available, the other one is. Clients will never get a better follow-up or service than from us.

Buying a home in Central Ohio is a major financial decision and long-term commitment, but it also offers significant financial advantages. Whether you're selecting one of our flexible floor plans or choosing a move-in ready home , homeownership provides value that grows over time. Predictable Monthly Payments One of the most valuable financial benefits of homeownership is stability. With a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, your monthly housing payment remains consistent, helping you avoid unpredictable rent increases. This reliability makes it easier to plan ahead and stay on track financially. Build Equity and Grow Wealth Instead of paying rent without return, your monthly mortgage payments contribute to something you own. With every payment, you increase your ownership stake in the property and build equity. Over time, this equity can fund a renovation, support another investment, or contribute to long-term financial stability. Plan Ahead with Flexible Floor Plans Choosing a semi-custom home means designing your space to meet current and future needs. Trinity Homes offers open-concept layouts, adaptable bonus spaces, and smart square footage that grows with your lifestyle. Planning ahead can help reduce the need for costly renovations or future moves. By staying in your home long-term, you increase your chances of benefiting from home appreciation and growing your net worth. Save with Move-In Ready Options If you're looking to move quickly, a move-in ready home can be a financially smart choice. Trinity Homes often offers reduced pricing, included upgrades, or assistance with closing costs on inventory homes. Enjoy a brand-new space with modern features and minimal repair expenses. Browse move-in ready homes Frequently Asked Questions Q: What are the financial advantages of buying a home over renting? A: Homeownership lets you build equity, benefit from property appreciation, and enjoy stable monthly payments, unlike renting where payments offer no long-term return. Q: Are semi-custom homes more expensive? A: Semi-custom homes can offer more long-term value by reducing renovation costs and better meeting your family’s evolving needs. Q: How quickly can I move into a Trinity Homes property? A: Our move-in ready homes are available for quick occupancy, often with added savings or included upgrades. If you're considering buying a home, Trinity Homes offers options designed to support both your lifestyle and your long-term financial goals. Spring often sneaks up on us, bringing warmer temperatures and a perfect opportunity to step outside, enjoy fresh air, and—most importantly—give your home’s exterior some much-needed attention. Whether you're in your first home or your tenth, staying ahead of spring maintenance is crucial for protecting your investment, preserving curb appeal, and ensuring long-term comfort. To help you get started, we’ve compiled a must-do checklist to keep your home in top shape this season. Inspect for Winter Damage While Columbus may not experience the same extreme snowstorms as other parts of the Midwest, winter weather can still take a toll on your home. Start by checking these key areas: Roof - Look for loose or missing shingles, fallen tree branches, and worn flashing around the chimney. Addressing these early can prevent leaks and costly repairs. Driveways & Walkways - The freeze-thaw cycle can cause cracks in concrete and asphalt. Resealing these areas prevents further deterioration and enhances curb appeal. Check for Drainage & Landscaping Issues A well-maintained yard isn’t just about looks—it also plays a role in foundation protection and water drainage. Low Spots in the Yard - After spring showers, watch for standing water, which can kill grass and attract pests. Fill uneven areas with quality soil to promote proper drainage. Soil Grading - Ensure the slope of your yard directs water away from your foundation to prevent basement leaks and moisture damage. Clean Gutters and Spouts Clogged gutters can lead to roof damage, foundation issues, and basement leaks. Take these steps: Remove leaves, twigs, and debris that accumulated over winter. Check downspouts for blockages and ensure water flows away from your home. Consider installing gutter guards for long-term protection. Refresh Your Home’s Exterior Your home’s siding, paint, and exterior finishes endure a lot during the winter. Inspect for Damage - Walk around your home and look for cracks, peeling paint, or mildew. Clean the Siding - Use warm, soapy water or a power washer (if your siding allows) to remove dirt and grime. Service Your Air Conditioning Your AC has been in hibernation mode, and the last thing you want is to find out it’s not working on the first toasty day of the season. Clear away debris from the condenser unit. Replace air filters for better efficiency. Schedule professional maintenance if needed. At Trinity Homes , we believe that a well-built home should stand the test of time. Taking care of seasonal maintenance is one of the simplest ways to extend the life of your home, protect your investment, and enhance everyday comfort. Once these essential tasks are complete, you can focus on the best parts of spring—gardening, grilling, and soaking up the sunshine! Looking for a home built to last? At Trinity Homes , we’re proud to specialize in what our competitors do not: customization . From siding to flooring to fixtures and beyond, we offer an extensive selection of options, empowering our clients to build a home that truly reflects their unique style and personality. We recently had the opportunity to talk with our Interior Designer, Amber Malloy , to discuss her role at Trinity Homes and what makes our new Design Center so special. With over a decade on the Trinity Homes team, Amber oversees the Design Center and plays a key role in selecting the vendors and suppliers, ensuring homeowners have access to stylish and quality products. “I’m very proud of the selection options we have available at Trinity Homes. If a client is looking for a particular tile or fixture, I will most likely have it. And if I don’t have it readily available, I’ll find it! I have a large resource bank and am always happy to put it to good use.” Amber’s primary role in the Design Center is helping our clients navigate the many choices available to them, offering expert guidance on selections that feel chic and timeless while enhancing resale value. Whether it’s attending industry events showcasing new product releases, or through her research, experience and general knowledge, she dedicates significant time to staying ahead of the latest trends in home design, ensuring she can provide homeowners with recommendations they’ll love for years to come. “While some clients do have a very specific vision for their home and require little assistance making their selections, the majority come in looking for inspiration and guidance to bring their home to life.” One of the most common challenges she sees is clients struggling to choose options that complement each other, ensuring things feel balanced and cohesive throughout their home. “ When choosing textures, paint colors, finishes, flooring, and so on, it’s easy to focus on the individual elements versus the big picture. It is my job to present the options in such a way that the client is easily able to envision how everything will coordinate, ensuring they make choices they not only love but that are cohesive and flow well with the aesthetic of the home. I want our customers to feel comfortable and confident in the choices they’ve made.” And despite carrying an extensive array of customization options, there’s also always going to be clients who prefer to use selections outside of what we offer. We’re always happy to accommodate these custom requests, ensuring every home reflects the unique style and preferences of its owner. Beyond her work in the Design Center, Amber also plays a key role in curating our model homes. “A major part of my job is bringing our available options to life in our Model homes. From tile, flooring, light fixtures and paint colors to furnishings and window treatments, each Model home is a blank slate in which I have the opportunity to really create the vision from scratch and then watch it blossom into a finished product. It’s such a fun, fulfilling job and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.” If you’re ready to make a move, Trinity Homes can help you bring your dream space to life with customization options that reflect your family’s lifestyle and personality.
